With literally every organization undergoing a form of digital transformation or the other, these companies have to turn to the other direction to find a unique, competitive advantage.
This is the case with IBM and Salesforce. The companies announced recently plans to offer integrated AI services that weave the broad human-like conversation and learning capabilities of IBM’s Watson with Salesforce’s more sales-oriented Einstein technology. The aim is helping a wide variety of companies better target products and services at customers.
IBM and Salesforce entered into a landmark partnership that enabled them to join forces in ways that have never been seen before. This new relationship has so far manifested itself in Cloud, AI, and weather solutions.
IBM and Salesforce revealed there wouldn’t be revenue sharing, but the plan is to continue selling their AI services independently. Analysts believe both companies will reach more customers as they join forces together than they would have separately.
The partnership means IBM Watson could weave predictions about buying patterns with Salesforce Einstein’s customer-specific data about buying preferences. This will inturn assist retailers automatically send a highly personalized and targeted email to shoppers.
Recently, IBM and Salesforce said (Finnish elevator maker Kone Oyj who is already using the combined AI service) uses Watson to study the status of its elevators and uses Salesforce Service Cloud to provide customer-service functions.
“Combining the capabilities could help Kone customers repair elevators more quickly or even detect and resolve potential problems before they emerge.”IBM Chief Executive Ginni Rometty said.
AI will have a significant impact on businesses of different size and industry in the nearest future. For early adopters, that could result in immense value and maybe even market dominance.
Although the journey to AI dominance in business is just starting, the first step has already been taken. If you’re looking for someone to lead the way, this is the partnership to bet on.
