“We are bringing together the world’s #1 CRM with the #1 analytics platform. Tableau helps people see and understand data, and Salesforce helps people engage and understand customers. It’s truly the best of both worlds for our customers–bringing together two critical platforms that every customer needs to understand their world,” said Marc Benioff, chairman and co-CEO, Salesforce, in a statement. “I’m thrilled to welcome Adam and his team to Salesforce.”
In a groundbreaking deal that is to see the #1 Customer Relationship Management (CRM) firm merging with the #1 Data Analytics firm, the opportunities in big data keep evolving by the day. Tableau set out to help everyone with access to a computer and internet make sense of data with their intuitive and user-friendly platform that turns raw data into charts and dashboards thus growing to become the biggest data analytics platform with millions of users in over 80,000 companies across the globe.
Salesforce in a bid to outplay rival company Google’s acquisition of Looker (a Business Intelligence company) might have been eyeing Tableau for a while now. This is a timely acquisition for Salesforce as it can extend even beyond CRM software and offer a massive base of customers deep data analytics.
According to Adam Selipsky, Tableau President and CEO, Salesforce and Tableau share a deep commitment to empowering their respective communities and enabling people of every skill level to transform their businesses, their careers, and their lives through technology. This is contained in an email shared with the fantastic Tableau team by Adam. Salesforce has agreed to buy Tableau in an all-stock deal worth $15.7billion.
The future is powered by data, as Tableau’s mission remains unchanged – to help people see and understand data while making the world a better place.
